GETTING AN E-MAIL ACCOUNT
District Employees no longer require an application form to receive a District email address. If you are an employee and need to activate a District email account for business use visit our Single Sign-on page to activate your account. (Available only when on the LAUSD network.)
Contractors who require a LAUSD.net account must complete an application form. Please visit the IT Security page for more information.
Note: Information relating to student accounts can be found on the right side of this page in the ePals section.

As of June 2007. LAUSD has migrated all staff accounts to the District's Microsoft Exchange servers.
IF YOUR ACCOUNT HAS ALREADY BEEN MOVED, GO TOHTTP://MAIL.LAUSD.NETTO LOG TO ACCESS YOUR NEW E-MAIL ACCOUNT USING A WEB BROWSER. ALTERNATE WAYS TO ACCESS YOUR MAIL ACCOUNT ARE LISTED BELOW.
LAUSDnet Dial-up users. Please note that the account name you use for LAUSDnet Dial-up will also change as a result of this migration. You must use your NEW e-mail account name once your account has migrated. For more information on dial-up network settings, go to the LAUSDnet Dial-uppage for instructions. Some customers have experience issues with this. Try typing your account name in ALL CAPS.
ITD customers can find information about how to access their e-mail and other functions on the Exchange server in the instructions provided here. You can access your mail in 3 different ways:
Through a Microsoft Exchange client from either Outlook 2003 for Windows or Entourage 2004 for Mac
Through Outlook Web Access - A web based system designed to emulate many of the features in Outlook 2003 on a Windows or Mac browser
Using a POP client such as OSX Mail for Mac or Outlook Express for Windows

Note: Contacts - If you use Outlook Web Access as your only mail client after you are migrated, we will import contact following the instructions provided above. If it is less then 10 contacts, please migrate these contact manually. Use the Outlook Web Access instructions below for information on manually creating contact manually.
Accessing Exchange Folders and Features from Microsoft Clients
To use either Microsoft Outlook 2003 for Windows or Entourage 2004 for Mac with Exchange and access all the features and folders, follow these instructions below:

Exchange Mailboxes are limited to 100MB of storage space for each user. You will receive a warning if your mailbox reached 80MB that your mailbox is getting close to capacity. To help keep your mailbox clean, follow the steps in this document:
Using Outlook Web Access
Your Exchange mail and folders can be accessed from anywhere on the Internet using Outlook Web Access (OWA). Here are guides that highlight features in OWA. Choose the set of documents that apply to your operating system:
Using POP Mail Clients to Download Exchange Mail
To use either Windows or Mac mail clients to download your mail, use the instructions below. Note: When mail is downloaded from Exchange in some mail clients, it is no longer available for viewing in programs like Outlook Web Access. The only copy of your mail will be on your local computer.:
Attention Teachers and Staff - Student Accounts are now on the LAUSD MyMail system:
The MyMail at LAUSD.net system is now available to students. Usernames will remain the same as they were in ePals.
The MyMail accounts have the form <username>@mymail.lausd.net and can be accessed by going to http://mymail.lausd.net. Passwords can be changed through Single Sign On (https://idmlogin.lausd.net) and please note that SSO is only available from within the District.
The new email system is provided in partnership with Google and will include calendaring to assist students in planning for assignments, and Google Docs for students to edit and share documents online.
Online help and documentation is available through the email system. Students are to contact their school's email sub-administrator for assistance with account/password problems. The ITD Service Desk is available to assist school email sub-administrators for further support.
Obtaining a New Student MyMail Account:
Student accounts are created by sub-administrators located at each school site. Contact your school's office staff for information on who your designated ePals sub-administrator is. (Note: Sub-administrator, please view the section below for more information relating to creating student accounts.)
