SETUP FOR LAUSDNET WINDOWS XP

Open Network Connections, click Start , point to Settings , click Control Panel , and then double-click Network Connections.

Under Network Tasks , click Create a new connection, and then click Next.

In the Welcome to the New Connection Wizard, click Connect to the Internet , then click Next.

Choose and click Set up my connection manually and then click Next.

If you are connecting using a standard 28.8 Kbps - 56Kbps modem, click Connect using a dial-up modem, click Next , and follow the instructions in the wizard. Enter LAUSDnet in the ISP Name.


Click Next to continue. Choose an appropriate dial-up access phone number from the following link: Access Phone Numbers , and enter it in the Phone Number to Dial. (Contact your local phone company to confirm that the number you are dialing is a local number to you.)


Click Next to continue. Enter your User name (User name, Login name, and User ID all have the same meaning), in the Internet Account Information screen. (Click here for more information on how your account name should be entered. If printing these dial-up instructions for future reference, be sure to print this supplemental page also.)


Click Next to continue. You will see the screen that indicates that you have completed the wizard.


Click Next to continue. An icon representing your new LAUSDnet shortcut will appear on the desktop. Double click this icon and the following window should appear: (Your user name, password, and the dial-up access phone number you typed in the steps above should appear in the applicable fields.) Now that you have created the connection, you will need to do some modification of the settings. Use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots.


Click Properties. On the General tab, you should be able to see the name of your modem and the access phone number that you typed for this connection. Select Show icon in notification area when connected.


Select the Options tab and use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Select the Security tab and use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click the Networking tab and use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click Settings and use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click OK to return to the main Networking screen.


Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties , use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click Advanced , use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click the DNS tab, use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click the WINS tab, use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:


Click OK twice to return to the main Networking screen. Select Client for Microsoft Networks.


Click Properties and use the same settings as you see in the sample screen shots:

Click OK twice to return to the Connect LAUSDnet window.


Click Dial in the Connect LAUSDnet window to begin your connection.

Start your favorite Internet Browser to begin navigating to a web page.

To disconnect from LAUSDnet , click Start , point to Settings , click Control Panel , and then double-click Network Connections , choose LAUSDnet and click Disconnect

OR

If an icon representing the LAUSDnet connection appears in the system tray, Right-Click the icon and click Disconnect.

To re-connect to LAUSDnet , one method you may use is to Double-Click on the LAUSDnet shortcut that should appear on your desktop and then click Dial in the Connect LAUSDnet window.
